Drone Remote Pilot theoretical knowledge training in Ireland for Standard Scenarios (STSs) in the Specific Category

Obtain EASA's drone remote pilot licence for Standard Scenarios (STS-01 & STS-02) in the Specific Category online. We designed this blended learning course for drone pilots who want to operate in controlled airspace or whose drone operations have a higher risk. By completing your UAS Remote Pilot training in our drone academy, you will be eligible to fly drones across all EASA member states in the Specific Category. The training course covers principles and requirements for Operational Declarations and Authorisations. We will review remote pilot requirements for operations under Standard Scenarios (STS-01 & STS-02) and published PDRAs. In addition, we will overview the operational risk assessments such as SORA.

Remote Pilot Certification Process:

  1. Complete Online Training: Complete the online self-paced training covering Open Category A2 and pass a proctored 30-question MCQ with a score of 75% or more in line with quiz-taking instructions.1
  2. Register with the Irish Aviation Authority: Register with the Irish Aviation Authority (Register Here), complete the A1/A3 Theoretical Knowledge examination, and obtain your IAA Number.
  3. Attend Live Webinar: Participate in our full-day interactive session covering Specific Category operations under Standard Scenarios (STS-01 & STS-02), published PDRAs and SORA.
  4. Pass Theoretical Knowledge Assessment: Successfully pass a proctored 32-questions MCQ with a score of 75% or more in line with quiz-taking instructions.1
  5. EASA Remote Pilot Certificate Of Theoretical Knowledge for STSs - Avtrain endorsement: Fill in the form with the required details and get your Remote Pilot Certificate of Theoretical Knowledge for STSs issued by the IAA.3

Relevant drones for operations under Standard Scenarios STS-01 and STS-02:

This training course is relevant to drones (UAS) carrying C5 or C6 CIL*** and other legacy drones with compatible FTS & parachute systems. Some of these drones are:

Post-Certification Options:

  • Operate under existing Operational Authorisation held by other UAS Operator
  • Register as an independent UAS Operator to obtain the Operational Authorisation following declarations under one of the STSs, under any published PDRA or by completing SORA.
  • Receive support from our highly skilled team of professionals for compiling application documentation, including Operations Manual, Compliance tables, Simulation excersizes and other supporting materials.

Notes:

  1. The theoretical knowledge assessments are conducted online via record and review or live proctoring systems. If a student fails to follow the instructions or does not reach a satisfactory grade, a retest will be required, and a retest fee of €39 will apply.
  2. Obtain Proof of Online training for Open Subcategories A1/A3.
  3. Additional certificate issuance fees applies and are paid directly to the IAA once you receive our endorsement on MySRS. For fees schedule please refer to iaa.ie for latest schedule of fees.

***It is the responsibility of operator to confirm the C5-C6 CIL with the drone manufacturer before purchasing or operating these drones.
